Dr. Rankin has taught courses in agricultural mechanics, early field experience in agricultural education, inquiry-based curriculum in agricultural STEM biotechnology education, methods of technological change, curriculum and assessment development, effective management of volunteer programs, and introduction to data analysis in social sciences. Dr. Rankin also supervises the Ag Ed Club and aids in the supervision of student teachers during the spring student teaching seminar.
Dr. Rankin was an agricultural education instructor and FFA advisor at Cole Co. R-I High School in Russellville, MO and at Southern Boone Co. R-I High School in Ashland, MO for a total of five years. During his time teaching secondary students, Kris oversaw multiple state and national champion career development events, as well as mentoring area and state officer members. Dr. Rankin is a member of the American Association for Agricultural Education (AAAE), the Association of Career and Technical Education (ACTE), the North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture (NACTA), and the National Association of Agricultural Educators (NAAE).
Dr. Rankin’s research interests lie withing the realms of technical skill acquisition, development, and retention of secondary and post-secondary students, emerging technology within school-based agricultural education, as well as the scholarship of teaching and learning as it relates to agricultural education. Dr. Rankin serves as a committee member on the National FFA Agricultural Technology and Mechanical Systems CDE, the Missouri State Fair Sheep Show, as well as different AAAE committees.
